How to Easily Transition Into a Successful Career

First it is important to know what career success means to you. It’s different for each person.

Is it the title? Is it the office? Is it the income? Is it the house or car or things you can afford because you have made it? In my humble opinion, those things are nice and feel good but they are the extras. They are the frosting on the cake.

What does it mean to have a successful career?

Career success to me means you love what you do. You wake up and bound out of bed each morning because you love what you do and can’t wait to start. You feel successful inside and out and in all parts of your life because what you are doing brings you joy and lifts up others, so you know without a doubt that you are making a real difference in our world. When you love what you do and do what you love, the rest of the trappings of success will follow—the good income, the house, the car and whatever other extras you value.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I want?
  • What do I value?
  • How do I define career success?

If you aren’t sure what you want or what you value, it might be time to find a good career coach to help you tune into your inner values and help guide you towards a career that has real meaning and purpose for you.

Discovering your successful career

Once you have clarity on what you want to do or meant to do, the next question is how do you get there?

My first suggestion is to learn to listen to your intuition. Pay attention to how you feel inside. Follow what feels right.

How you get there depends on where you are at right now.

  • What is the gap between where you are right now and where you want to be?
  • What parts of your career feel right at this moment?
  • What parts don’t feel good? This will tell you what parts you need to address.

Sometimes it just takes tweaks and you will be and feel successful. Take charge and make those changes.

Then there are those of you that need to totally revamp everything and start from ground zero because you dislike your job and what you are doing in life? This is a much bigger undertaking, but very much worth the time and effort.

Find yourself an intuitive life and career coach who can walk you through the steps of knowing without a doubt what speaks to you, what makes your heart sing. This coach should be able to help you understand your gifts, talents and natural tendencies as those are the big clues as to who you are at the core and what you should be doing. Work with your coach to discover out how to take this information and figure out how to make a career transition, so you can do what you love and what you are meant to do.

Be patient through career transition

Depending on your individual situation, you might be able to make a career transition without delay, as you may stay within your current company or field and everything just needs to be massaged.

For those of you making a major career transition and switching industries, know that a successful career transition is usually done in stages. It is often difficult to leave your day job, that is supporting you and helping you pay the bills, while moving into a career that you love. It’s a matter of being creative and planning to determine the best way to handle your transition. It may mean taking classes or learning new modalities while you are working in your current job. It may mean moving into a temporary position that you like better to build skills while you are developing and building your long term plan. Each person is unique and a great career coach can help you determine the best journey for your specific situation.

Just know it is easy to make a successful transition once you have clarity on what you want and know without a doubt that it is the right move for you as everything just magically falls in line when you are moving towards your purpose or what you are meant to do in this world.
